The Strategic Plan for 2009-13 was developed through an exstensive consultation with members, partners and community groups to develop a new direction of inclusive advocacy.The results from the consultation process were invaluable in helping the organisation set its goals and vision for the future. The clear and positive feedback from everyone has lead ACTSport to develop the following vision:

“ACTSport is the recognised representative, effective advocate and valued partner for the Canberra Region’s community sport and active recreation industry”

As you will see this Vision sets a direction for the organisation to develop strong communication, inclusion and best practice modelling which, will ensure that as the community sport and active recreation industry body for the ACT we can effectively represent and service this industry.

ACTSport and the industry it represents faces challenging times ahead but, is encouraged by the support from the community and industry at large. There are numerous factors that will combine in the next twelve months, these factors will place a number of pressures on all of us from various directions including;

• The Crawford Report Findings
• Alcohol and Junk Food sponsorship
• Territory and Federal Budget constraints on funding
• Increased competition from community organisations for investment
• Inclusion of the growing recreation industry
• Increased need to develop capacity in line with compliance and fiscal challenges
• Governance and business modelling for NSO’s and its effects at community level

Having said this, ACTSport is ready and willing to face these challenges.
