Media Stratergy Workshop

In connection with Australian Women's Sport and Recreation Association, ACTSport is running a workshop designed to increase your knowledge in building strategies to increase media awareness of your organisation and participants.

The workshops are aimed at Volunteer run organisations and junior level staff with a focus on developing media campaigns and strategies. The workshop has been developed by AWSRA and contains the following units;

Define your Objectives
Identifying Target Audiences
Plan for Traditional Channels
Defining New Channels and Planning for New Media
Understanding Media and its Role in PR Strategies
Crisis and Issues Media Management

There will be two dates for the Workshops;
Workshop 1, 2nd May (will focus on small, volunteer run organisational strategy)
Workshop 2, 3rd May (will focus on medium to large organisational strategy)

These workshops are open to any individual working, volunteering or participating in sport or recreation in the ACT.

Industry Skills Courses and Workshops

Advanced Media Management
Where: ACT Sports House
When: 17th August, 9am-4:30pm
Cost: Member - $295 | Non Member - $390 per person

This workshop provides participants with an excellent insight into the media and how journalists operate in the field. It also provides tangible skills to help prepare for media interviews, explain the “media traps” and how to avoid them, gives participants interview practice and builds their confidence through extensive feedback and reinforcement.

Understanding the Media

Where: ACT Sports House
When: 19th August, 9am-4pm
Cost: Member - $125 | Non Member $195 per person

This workshop delves into how the media operates and the best way to deal with journalists. It provides tips on how to gain media exposure and also how to be proactive when seeking media coverage. It covers tangible skills to help prepare for media interviews and gives participants interview practice and builds their confidence through extensive feedback and reinforcement.



Women's Sports Leadership Workshop
Where: ACT Sports House
When:   Sunday 3rd May 2009, 9am-4pm
Cost:      Free

Australian Womensport and Recreation Association in conjunction with ACTSport is conducting a one-day Women's Sports Leadership Workshop in Canberra with in conjunction with ACTSport and funding from the Australian Government.
